A cloud cluster in east of Mindanao was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) which may form into a low pressure area (LPA), PAGASA reported on Wednesday, May 22.
According to the state-run weather agency, these cloud formations may intensify into an LPA either throughout the day or Thursday.
"In fact, there is also a likelihood that this (LPA) would intensify into a tropical depression," said Weather specialist Robert Badrina.
In the meantime, Badrina said the cloud clusters would be bringing rain over the eastern part of Visayas, Bicol Region, and Mindanao until over the weekend.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said it would remain hot, especially from noontime until mid-afternoon due to the easterlies which could also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the late afternoon or at night over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather bureau earlier said the Philippines could experience 13 to 16 tropical cyclones this year.
