The trough or extension of the low pressure area (LPA) is affecting areas in Visayas and Mindanao regions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
In a public briefing, PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the LPA was last located 1,170 kilometers (km) east of Eastern Visayas.
"Ayon sa ating latest analysis, nanatili na mababa ang tyansa nito na maging bagyo within 48 hours, at possible itong pumasok sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility within 24 to 48 hours," she said.
Once it enters the country's area of responsibility, Castañeda said the LPA may cross southern Luzon and Visayas, and may bring heavy rains.
However, she noted that there is still a big chance that the "scenario may change".
Meanwhile, the PAGASA weather specialist said Typhoon Bolaven was last seen 2,385 km east of Eastern Visayas.
"Nanatili na mababa ang tyansa nito na pumasok sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility, at sa kasalukuyan ay wala din itong direct effect sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa," Castañeda said.
Based on PAGASA's public weather forecast bulletin, Typhoon Bolaven has a maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
The typhoon is moving in a northwestward direction at 20 kph speed.
Tropical Depression, or formerly Jenny, was seen 1,025 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph.
