The low-pressure area being monitored east of Taiwan has intensified into Tropical Depression "Dindo," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported late Sunday evening.
In its 11 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA stated that Dindo is currently not expected to directly impact the weather conditions in the Philippines. As a result, no storm signals have been issued at this time.
Dindo is projected to strengthen into a tropical storm by Monday but is also expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next 12 hours.
As of 3 a.m. today, the weather bureau reported that the center of Tropical Depression Dindo is located approximately 635 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
Dindo is moving westward at 10 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gusts reaching up to 80 km/h.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, will bring rains and cloudy skies to several parts of the country.
Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
