The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression on Monday morning, Nov. 13, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
In its 11 AM bulletin, PAGASA said it last tracked the tropical depression at 1,540 kilometers (km) east of southeastern Mindanao, outside PAR.
The tropical depression is packed with 45 km per hour (kph) maximum sustained winds near the center and 55 kph gustiness while moving eastward at 20 kph.
Forecast track
"On the track forecast, the Tropical Depression may enter the PAR region on late Wednesday (15 November) or Thursday (16 November)," the state weather bureau said.
It added that the tropical depression will be named "Kabayan" once inside the PAR.
According to PAGASA, several provinces in Visayas, Mindanao, and Bicol Region may experience heavy rainfall when the tropical depression pass Eastern Visayas on Friday, Nov. 17.
It said the tropical depression may develop into typhoon with 120 kph peak intensity on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The state weather bureau noted that hositing Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals over eastern portions of Visayas and Mindanao is likely to happen.
"Furthermore, the tropical cyclone may also bring rough to very rough seas over the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao beginning Thursday (16 November). Such condition may be risky for those using small seacrafts. Mariners are advised to continue monitoring for updates," PAGASA said.
