The fast-approaching 'ber' months will bring a welcome development: cheaper airline flights. The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has reduced the fuel surcharge level from Level 6 in August to Level 5 in September.

Under Level 6, surcharges ranged from ₱185 to ₱665 for domestic flights and from ₱610.37 to ₱4,538.40 for international trips. In contrast, Level 5 sets surcharges at ₱151 to ₱542 for domestic flights and ₱498.03 to ₱3,703.11 for international flights.

Fuel surcharges, as the term suggests, are additional fees added to the base fare to cover fuel costs.

Passengers traveling from Manila to Caticlan, Legazpi, Kalibo, and Roxas will incur an extra ₱238. Those flying to Iloilo, Cebu, Bacolod, and Puerto Princesa will face an additional charge of ₱316. Flights to Dumaguete, Tagbilaran, Surigao, and Siargao will cost ₱418 more, while those heading to Zamboanga, Cotabato, and Davao will see an increase of ₱487.

This adjustment aims to provide travelers with some financial relief as they plan their trips during the 'ber' months.
