The Department of National Defense (DND) strongly condemns the ambush of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo over the weekend.

In a statement, DND Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Degamo is a believer in the welfare and security of Negros Oriental through the alliance of the Local Government Unit (LGU) and the security sector.

He also mentioned that the slain governor supported their efforts for peace under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) particularly the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration (E-CLIP) for the reintegration of former rebels to mainstream society.

Galvez sent their deep condolences to the family, friends, and constituents of Degamo and comforted them by encouraging them to find solace during these difficult times.
