You don't have to book a flight just to witness Japan's cherry blossom or sakura because we have it here in the Philippines!
Take a look at this beautiful Salinggogon tree (Cratoxylum formosum) in full bloom for its summer season nestled amid the vast green forest of Masungi Georeserve in Rizal.
In a thread, Masungi Georeserve shared snaps of towering sakura-like trees that can grow up to 65 feet tall, with known specimens growing up to over 140 feet.
"Passers-by are drawn to its pink crown which stands out among the greenery of the georeserve. Under the protection of Masungi park rangers, these trees are flourishing without the threat of being cleared," Masungi Georeserve tweeted.
More salinggogon trees have been planted as part of the Masungi Geopark Project, an ecosystem restoration program seeking to rehabilitate roughly 2,700 hectares of damaged woods close to the georeserve.
By visiting its official website and joining the #SaveMasungi movement petition against detrimental actions, the management urged the public to show support.
Meanwhile, although it is native to the Philippines, it is also found in other tropical nations like Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
