Masungi Georeserve recently shared an image of their native Tibig tree, a testament to the diverse flora found in the Philippines.
Highlighted as part of their Discovery Trail experience, the Tibig tree (Ficus nota) is identified as one among their documented eight Ficus species.
"The Tibig tree is an indication that a water source—and a clean one at that—is nearby," Masungi noted.
This remarkable tree signifies the presence of a nearby water source, one that's notably clean.
The plentiful occurrence of the Tibig tree within Masungi also underscores the role of limestone formations as vital contributors to the water cycle.
This isn't the first time Masungi Georeserve has showcased the flora and fauna that thrive within its boundaries.
Recently, they shared images of rare findings, including the golden birdwing butterfly, the enchanting 'endangered' Molave Tree, the elusive JC's Vine, and the Philippine counterpart of cherry blossoms, the Salinggogon tree.
