According to DownDetector, a site that tracks problem reports from users, error reports spiked just after 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 5. As of approximately 11 a.m., Downdetector had received more than 500,000 error reports.
About 76% of the problems reported by Facebook users related to trouble logging in.
Meta's website said that an array of commerce tools on the platforms are experiencing major disruptions, including Ads Manager and Meta Business Suite.
The incident became trending on X (formerly known as Twitter), a social network company and a tough opponent of Meta's Facebook and Instagram.
Meanwhile, Meta assured its users that they are currently working to fix the said error.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a post on X.
Several reports from users said early on Wednesday that they were able to log in to their accounts.
