President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday met with some incumbent and incoming lawmakers from both Houses of Congress to discuss his administration's legislative agenda as well as his upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA).

In a statement, the Marcos camp said the meeting took place in their headquarters in Mandaluyong City and was led by Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, who are both eyeing the top posts in their respective houses.

Aside from the two, the meeting was also attended by lawmakers from the upper chamber such as Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Senators Nancy Binay, Ronald Dela Rosa, Lito Lapid, and Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr., along with Senators-elect JV Ejercito, Jinggoy Estrada, Loren Legarda, and Raffy Tulfo.

Iloilo Rep. Janet Garin and Isabela Rep. Tonypet Albano were also in attendance for the lower chamber.

The visit came after Zubiri earlier said Marcos already expressed his desire to immediately 'shape up' the legislative agenda for the next Congress.

“In my discussion with our incoming president, President-elect Bongbong Marcos, he wants to shape up the legislative agenda immediately,” Zubiri said in an interview at the Senate on Monday.

“He instructed me and incoming Speaker Romualdez to sit down and discussed possible legislative agenda for the Sona [state of the nation address], discussions for the Sona,” he said.

Zubiri has committed to helping the incoming chief executive on his agenda for the 19th Congress whether or not he will be Senate President.

“So, we have a series of meeting and we’ve been discussing how we can assist the President-elect on his legislative agenda for the 19th Congress,” he said.
