Veteran broadcaster Deo Macalma has been awarded as one of the Outstanding Journalists for 2022 during the RCM Journalism Awards held on Thursday, June 16 by the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) in Makati City.
Macalma, who hosts Damdaming Bayan — one of the most prized programs of DZRH, was cited by the club as an artist who "presents the truth wrapped with his wit to stimulate critical thinking and sound judgment."
The top anchorman and AVP for DZRH became famous for his "bubwit" stints wherein he would drop clues from his verified source regarding some of the pressing issues in the country.
"His style encourages vigilance in all human affairs, hangs the sword over people responsible in making decisions both in public and private affairs," the RCM stated.
"He is deadlier when he scoops on apparent foibles of famous personalities, yet the venom spices and animates his program," it added.
Aside from Damdaming Bayan, Macalma is also hosting "Breaktime" in the afternoon from Mondays to Fridays at 4:00 PM.
Founded on June 1, 1919, the Rotary Club of Manila is the first and oldest rotary club in Asia.
Congratulations, Lakay Deo!
