Jennie, the main rapper of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, will be appearing in the upcoming HBO series The Idol, her agency confirmed on Tuesday.
"I found the script very intriguing, so I wanted to be part of the series," Jennie said through her agency.
"I feel very excited. I’ll work hard, so please watch me with affection," she added.
Prior to this, BLINKs were quick to spot the 26-year-old Kpop idol in the official trailer of the new series co-created by Abel Tesfaye, the Canadian pop star known by his stage name The Weeknd, Euphoria creator Sam Levison, and Reza Fahim.
"The Idol" is set against the backdrop of the music industry and is about a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who develops a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. It also features Hollywood personalities like Tesfaye, Lily-Rose Depp, Debby Ryan, Hari Nef, and Troye Sivan.
Not much has been known about the character of Jennie in the new series, however, it is getting much attention from Kpop fans since this will be her first acting role.
The Idol will be available on HBO Max. It is confirmed to have seven episodes.
BLACKPINK is set to make a comeback next month.
