The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and Akari Lighting & Technology Corp. have officially embarked on a landmark partnership to establish the "Home of the UAAP," a state-of-the-art facility in Pasig City.

The facility, set to be constructed on a 1.8-hectare site along Amang Rodrigue Avenue, aims to provide a central venue for UAAP events, featuring a seating capacity of 6,000 fans.

The UAAP Board of Trustees and Managing Directors recognized the growing demands of the league and the need for a dedicated facility, which led to the appointment of UAAP Season 85 President Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM of Adamson University, as Chairperson of the negotiating panel for the project.

Discussions between Akari and the UAAP commenced in March 2023, with the concept design being unveiled in May 2023 by ASYA Design Partner, led by principal architect Albert Yu.

Akari CEO Christopher Tiu highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating, "At Akari, we believe in building legacies that go beyond lighting solutions. This Home of the UAAP project is our way of supporting grassroots sports development, where young student-athletes can grow, excel, and shine on the national stage."

UAAP Season 87 Chairman and University of the Philippines President Atty. Angelo “Jijil” Jimenez expressed gratitude for Akari’s support, emphasizing that the new facility will not only serve as a competition venue but also symbolize the unity and excellence of the UAAP.

"The Home of the UAAP is not just for the league itself; it is for the student-athletes who represent the heart and soul of the UAAP," added UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rene “Rebo” Saguisag Jr.

The construction of the Home of the UAAP is scheduled to begin soon, with a targeted completion in three years. The facility is expected to become the premier venue for amateur sports in the Philippines, providing a dedicated space for future generations of student-athletes to shine.
