The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) unveiled their new logo, which symbolizes Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFW) courage and determination and the Department’s commitment to providing them support.

The official logo was revealed during the “Collaborative Pathways: Advancing International Partnerships for OFWs” event hosted at the Susan V. Ople, Makati City on Tuesday.

The DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay introduced the logo as a symbolism for the OFW story: one of courage and determination, and the migrant agency’s dedication to standing by them.

“Our new logo encapsulates the mission of the DMW—to offer hope and new opportunities for OFWs, while the seven rays represent the seven government offices merged under the DMW,” she said.

While the sun signifies hope and opportunity, the white figures are family left behind, for whom the workers strive to succeed.

Moreover, the department’s steadfast support—manifesting in its assistance to and guidance of overseas workers—is shown in the clasped hands. The hands, blue and red, with the yellow figure, sun, and stars remind one of the Philippine flag, denoting unity and national pride.

The artist, John Jaeffer Javier, is a freelance graphic artist with a relative working as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia. His design won a logo contest the DMW held in November 2023, recalled Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.

The new logo will be used in the Department’s official communications: its website, social media platforms, peripherals like backdrops, presentations, merchandise, and all other advocacy campaigns in the future.
