What happens when you put Charli XCX and A24 films together? You get “The Moment.”
Just hours after leading the BRIT Awards nominations, Charli XCX is embarking on a new project. Only this time, it would be for a new movie.
On Thursday, January 23, Variety announced that the singer-songwriter is teaming up with A24 to produce (and possibly star in) the film “The Moment.” According to Variety, the film is based on her “own original idea.”
Although details about its plot and characters are still kept under wraps, the publication reported that Charli may also star in the movie. What couldn’t be more “Brat” than that?
Subsequently, Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aiden Zamiri will make his directorial debut for the project; while “Brat” album producer A.G. Cooke is locked in to compose its score.
Meanwhile, Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz, and Zach Nutman will executive produce the film.
“The Moment” is the first film produced under Charli’s new production company, Studio365. The “Apple” singer had previously spoken of pivoting her career from music to acting.
“I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” Charli told Variety last year. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”
The “Brat” superstar is stepping into a new era, as she will be starring in six upcoming films: 100 Nights of Hero, Erupcja, Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex, Sacrifice, and The Gallerist.
Meanwhile, the singer had five nods in this year’s BRIT Awards, receiving nominations for: album of the year, artist of the year, song of the year, and dance and pop act.
