In a press briefing on Tuesday, Senator Francis Tolentino announced the ongoing search for the missing fisherman, after his boat was hit by a Chinese vessel in Subic, Zambales.
The incident occurred on July 7, when siblings, Jose and Robert Mondeñedo, went out to sea near the said area. According to Tolentino, the Chinese vessel reportedly hit the boat, eventually causing it to sink.
Robert was able to survive the wreck; However, his brother Jose, remains missing. Tolentino said that he has been working closely with the Philippine Coast Guard to speed up the process of finding the missing fisherman.
Authorities were able to identify its name, revealing that the characters written read, “Yang Fu”. Tolentino suspects it to be a commercial vessel, as it ran right after its occurrence.
“Ang kailangan ngayon ay matutunton yung nawawala nating mangingisda (What we need right now, is to find our missing fisherman),” he remarked.
