Make way, make way, the live-action remake of the hit Disney animated film "Moana" is coming soon!
The new feature film was announced by actor Dwayne Johnson, who was the voice actor of the demigod of the wind and sea Maui, in a video posted by Walt Disney Studios on its social media platforms.
"We are so excited and happy to announce that a live-action reimagining of Moana is in the works," he said.
Johnson also announced that he will portray the role of Maui.
He shared that the film is special for him as the story reflects his culture.
"As you know, Hawaiʻi means so much to my family and me, and the traditions of our ʻohana or “aiga”, as we say in Samoa, were shaped by these incredible islands," Johnson, who grew up on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii, shared.
According to Walt Disney, the live-action will be produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia.
Dana Ledoux Miller and Jared Bush, who was also the writer of the 2016 animated "Moana", will also take part in the production.
The 2016 animated film revolves around the adventure of Moana, the daughter of the village's chief, who sails out across the sea to find Maui and return the stolen heart of Te Fiti and heal the land.
