Actor turned Senator Manuel ‘Lito’ Lapid on Sunday said the contribution of late action star Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) in the film industry and the country is immeasurable.
He made the remark after he witnessed the renaming of Roosevelt Station in the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 as FPJ station.
“Binanggit ni Lapid na ang kanyang ama ay stuntman noon ni FPJ hanggang sa kunin syang stuntman na rin ni Da King,” the office of Lapid said in a press release.
It added that the Senator believed that he would not be who is today without the King of the Philippine movies, who took care of him and gave him a big break in the entertainment industry.
Lapid was the principal author of Republic Act No. 11608 or An Act renaming Roosevelt Avenue located in Legislative District I of Quezon City as Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue.
Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III sponsored the said measure.
Throughout his acting career, Lapid has worked with FPJ in several movies including “Kalibre”, “Isang Bala ka lang”, “Isusumbong kita sa Tatay ko”, and many more.
