A liquor ban and other prohibitions have taken effect in Manila for the 2023 Bar Examination that is set on Sunday, Sept. 17.
According to Executive Order 24 dated Sept. 4 and released on Sept. 15, selling and buying alcohol are prohibited within a 500-meter radius of San Beda University in Mendiola and the University of Sato Tomas in Espana, Manila.
The liquor ban took effect at 12 midnight last Saturday, Sept. 16 and this will expire at 10 PM next Sunday, Sept. 24.
Ambulant vendors are also restricted within a 500-meter radius of the two aforementioned universities from Sept. 16 to Sept. 25.
Disruptive activities such as mass gatherings, parades, salubong, parties, and similar activities that tend to create loud noise or cause disruption during examinations are likewise not allowed within the same areas and same dates.
"All violators shall be dealt with accordingly pursuant to existing laws and ordinances of the City of Manila," the order reads.
Based on the latest data released by the Supreme Court, 10,816 candidates are expected to take the 2023 Bar Examinations in 14 local testing centers.
Of the total examinees, 5,832 are first-time takers and 4,984 are second-timers.
The second day of 2023 Bar Examination is set on Wednesday, Sept. 20 and the last day will be on Sunday, Sept. 24.
