A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck off Calaca, Batangas, on Friday morning, Oct. 13, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Philvocs, the earthquake, which was of tectonic origin, hit off at 8:24 a.m.
The quake's epicenter was located 13.89°N, 120.78°E, 005 km S, 39° W of Calaca, Batangas and had a depth of 14 kilometers.

The state seismologist said damage and aftershocks are expected.
