Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson revealed that an individual has offered their ballroom as a venue for the proposed "charity boxing match" between PNP Chief General Nicolas Torre III and Davao City Acting Mayor Baste Duterte.
In a post on X, Lacson said the individual is the CEO of a popular resort casino hotel and a well-known philanthropist who expressed willingness to host the match.
"A credible source told me last night, the CEO of a popular resort casino hotel, a well-known philanthropist is willing to open their ballroom for the “charity boxing match” between Nick Torre and Baste Duterte," the Senator said.
"For the sake of the many poor flood victims, let’s do it," he added.

The statement came after Torre accepted the challenge from Mayor Duterte, who earlier remarked that the general was only acting tough because of his position.
"Matapang ka lang naman, you have the position. Pero kung suntukan tayo, alam ko kaya kita kung gano'n lang. You are a coward. You are nothing without your position," said Duterte during an episode of his podcast Basta Dabawenyo on July 20.
Torre responded that the timing of the challenge was perfect, as many people have been affected by the recent typhoon and flooding—and that a charity boxing match could help raise funds for those in need.
The PNP chief also called on potential sponsors to support the event, even offering them opportunities to display their merchandise during each round of the proposed match.
"12 rounds? Pwede… ang suntukan para maganda, para medyo marami-rami ang ma-raise natin, siguro you can find sponsors, per round, may mag-sponsorm" said Torre.
Torre added that his training for the match is scheduled to begin Thursday morning at 9:00 AM at Camp Crame.
