Atty. Elmer Galicia, who claimed to have notarized a counter-affidavit for dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo could face disbarment, according to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
During the Kapihan sa Senado on Thursday, Gatchalian stated that many lawyers have been disbarred for similar actions.
"Well, I think sa mga rules ng Supreme Court pwede siyang ma-disbar sa pagsisinungaling," Gatchalian told reporters.
It can be recalled that during a previous Senate sub-committee on justice hearing, Galicia mentioned that an individual named "Allan," who shares the same religion as him, allegedly called him and referred Guo for the signing of her counter-affidavit.
Galicia said he met Guo outside his office on August 14, contradicting Senator Risa Hontiveros's revelation during her privileged speech that Guo had already left the country on July 18 for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Gatchalian said they are inviting Allan to verify the validity of Galicia's claim.
"Tuloy-tuloy pa yung aming imbestigasyon kaya nga iimbitahihin namin si Allan para makita namin kung si Allan ay totoong tao at siya ang magbigay ng detalye paano niya nakilala si Guo Hua Ping," said the Senator.
