The camp of Jose Antonio San Vicente admitted that he panicked when he ran over a security guard last June 5 in Mandaluyong City, an incident that went viral in social media and garnered even the attention of lawmakers.
"Very apprehensive siya, natatakot siya, nag-panic," said Atty. Danny Macalino, the lawyer of San Vicente, on Wednesday, June 15, during a press conference.
Macalino said that San Vicente has not yet spoken with the victim, Christian Joseph Floralde, but the former extends his apologies to the security guard and promises to provide assistance.
"Ang parents niya and, probably, siya mismo, they wanted to extend an apology to the victim's family, pati yung brother at saka pati parents niya, and they are willing to extend any help as possible, as legally possible, sa kanila," Macalino assured.
San Vicente faces charges of frustrated murder and surrendered to the Philippine National Police on Wednesday at the headquarters of the organization in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The police allowed San Vicente to go home but he promised to attend the preliminary investigation of the case against him on Friday, June 17, at the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor's Office.
San Vicente snubbed the Land Transportation Office summons to attend two hearings earlier.
