Filipina hurdler Lauren Hoffman’s medal bid is still alive after placing 37th out of 40 participants in the heats of the women’s 400m hurdles, advancing to the repechage round at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday (Manila time).

Hoffman was relegated to the repechage event after failing to secure a guaranteed semifinal berth during the first round of the hurdle competition.

Clocking in at 57.84 seconds in Heat 4, the Filipina-American finished last among eight racers, resulting in a 37th-place overall ranking.

Netherlands' Femke Bol ranked first in the heats with a time of 53.38 seconds, followed by America's Jasmine Jones and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, both clocking 53.60 seconds.

The top 3 in each heat, along with the 3 participants with the fastest times across all heats, will advance to the semifinals.

The repechage will be crucial for Hoffman. She needs to finish in the top two to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Hoffman will return for the repechage round on Monday (Manila time), hoping to clinch another medal for Team Philippines.
