The latch batch of Filipinos, who were recently evacuated by the national government from conflict-torn Sudan, arrived in the country on Sunday, May 7.
In an update posted on Facebook, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the last batch, composed of 99 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 7:40 pm.
They were welcomed by DMW Secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople and officials from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
"This group of 99 OFWs who arrived via Saudi Airlines flight SV870 is the largest to return to the country since repatriation flights started last April 29, 2023," DMW noted.
Each of the OFWs returnees was given financial assistance worth ₱50,000 and a care pack.
Earlier, Ople said that American business firms have shown interest in hiring displaced OFWs from Sudan.
She said these companies are willing to look at the profiles of the OFWs who are teachers, nurses, construction workers, engineers, and among others.
