Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. clarified on Monday, Dec. 4, that the blast that happened during the morning mass held at Mindanao State University in Marawi City on Sunday, Dec. 3, was not a cause of the suicide bombing.

According to the Philippine National Police, they found 60 mm mortar fragments from the improvised bomb that was used in the attack.

Adiong said that the victims, 35 out of 47 people who were injured, were rushed to Amai Pakpak Medical and have been discharged on Sunday, in which some of them were able to go home while others were brought to the MSU infirmary.

Meanwhile, the governor said that the crime’s motive has yet to be distinguished, saying that it was the first time that a bomb incident happened, which occurred during the Mass.
