A candidate running for barangay chairman in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) 2023 was shot dead in an ambush in the Municipality of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur on Wednesday morning, Oct. 25.
In a confirmation to DXMS Radyo Bida Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Director Col. Robert Daculan said the victim was identified as Kamar Bilao Bansil.
According to Daculan, the victim was riding a white multi-cab with his family when suspects fired them at around 6 AM in Brgy. Sigayan in Kapatagan, Lanao Del Sur.
Bansil's wife, Jasmin Macalanggen, and their son sustained injuries.
The Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Director said a total of 29 empty 5.56 caliber were recovered at the crime scene.
The culprit in the crime was identified as Pabil Pagrangan, the husband of the incumbent barangay chairwoman in Brgy. Sigayan, and several others.
Authorities are still investigating motive behind the brazen shooting, as of this posting.
