The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) named its new spokesperson on Sunday, January 15.
Replacing Jail Superintendent Xavier Solda, who was assigned to BJMP Region 9, is Jail Chief Inspector Jayrex Joseph Bustinera who will serve as the new spokesperson.
Prior to his appointment as a spokesperson, Bustinera lead the Community Relations Service Office of BJMP national headquarters and was a chief of staff of the Center for Jail Excellence and Strategy Management.
In 2008, he graduated from the Philippine National Police Academy with a degree in public safety, and in 2016, he earned a master's degree in development management from the Asian Institute of Management.
His most recent position was as Warden of the Male Dormitory at Marikina City Jail, where he helped establish the "Barangayanihan Initiative," a BJMP community-based aftercare program for people who have been deprived of their liberty and their families.
