Brgy. Ginebra Captain LA Tenorio has been temporarily assigned to the coaching staff in anticipation of a potential October comeback.
This was his first appearance since the announcement of his cancer battle being seen on the bench to support his team during its game against San Miguel Beermen.
"It doesn’t need to be said [and] I don’t think it needs to be repeated. He honors us by our presence. Hopefully, we can honor him by continuing to play hard and playing his image," Coach Tim Cone said after Ginebra's win, 121-112, in Game 1 of their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals.
Tenorio volunteered to assist Cone and his coaching staff in preparing the Kings as they advance further into the playoffs in their quest to win the season-ending conference for a third consecutive year, according to the Ginebra official.
During the game, a season-high 33 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists from Christian Standhardinger and 27 points, 6 rebounds, and three steals from Jamie Malonzo helped the Gin Kings stay in the game after they blew a 21-point lead.
