Actress Kylie Padilla on Wednesday has clarified that her recent comment about leaving the Philippines was not intended to insult her father, Senator Robin Padilla, amid speculation about his possible bid for vice presidency in the 2028 national elections.
The remark, came after Kylie was asked whether she supports her father’s rumored plan to run for higher office.
In response, she jokingly said yesterday, “Aalis na po 'ko ng Pilipinas. 'Yun lang po ang comment,”
In a post on her social media, Kylie explained that her statement stemmed from a personal desire for a “calm, peaceful, and quiet life.“
“Please do not take my statement and use it against my father. I admire all the good he is doing for our country…'Di ko sinabi 'yun to insult him or anyone else. I love him and only wish for him to be happy and safe always,” she wrote.
She further emphasized on Instagram Stories: “l only meant that aalis po akong Pilipinas kasi gusto ko ng tahimik na buhay. It was not a comment to insult my father because I trust in his judgment and all the good he is doing for this country.”
The senator earlier said that he would be willing to run for vice president if asked by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Despite the buzz online, Kylie reiterated that her comment was a lighthearted reflection of her personal aspirations, not a critique of her father’s political plans.
