Television host and actress Kris Aquino has opened up about a recent cancer scare, revealing that she faced a major health challenge after undergoing a PET (positron emission tomography) scan.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Aquino shared that her colon "lit up" in the scan, which heightened fears due to her family’s history with colon cancer.

The Queen of All Media expressed her devastation upon hearing the news, recalling the tragic experiences of her mother, former President Cory Aquino, and her grandmother, who both succumbed to colon cancer. The shocking results brought back painful memories, pushing her to an emotional breakdown.

"I'm normally very brave. But I broke down in tears after my doctor left. My nurse and the SLMC nurse saw me and said they had never seen me so sad," Aquino wrote.

"Ang hirap to see my 17-year-old doing his best to stay strong. He said, 'Mama, until they do the biopsy, let's trust God that you're cancer-free,'" Aquino shared, quoting her son’s words of encouragement. Bimby even tried to lighten the mood, saying, "I don't think Tito Noy [former President Noynoy Aquino] is excited to have a reunion with you this soon because he's enjoying the peace and quiet in heaven."

Fortunately, after further assessments, Aquino’s doctors were able to deliver good news—she is cancer-free.

"Late afternoon when I was wide awake, Dr. Jonnel was smiling, he said—you are cancer free. Clear intestines. No visible sign of cancer," Aquino revealed in her post, expressing deep gratitude to everyone who had been praying for her.

While the cancer scare has passed, Aquino continues to face significant health challenges. She disclosed that three of her autoimmune conditions remain life-threatening, with the potential to cause severe damage to her vital organs.

"Puwedeng ma-damage my vital organs or my blood vessels, specifically my artery, connecting my lungs to my heart to the extent na I can die immediately from a stroke or aneurysm or cardiac arrest," she shared, providing an honest look at the gravity of her ongoing health battle.

Despite this, Aquino remains determined and positive, promising to keep fighting and focusing on her future.

"I promised myself bawal sumuko. I need a goal, something for all of us to look forward to. Tuloy ang laban," she said.

Meanwhile, Aquino also disclosed that she is currently working on a new show with her close friend Darla Sauler, which is set to launch before the end of 2024.
