MANILA – The President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol is set to visit the Philippines on October 6-7, 2024, his first visit to the country, and the first State Visit to the Philippines by a Korean President since 2011, according to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines.
President Yoon will visit the Philippines next week at the invitation of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) also confirmed in a statement.
President Marcos and First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta-Marcos will welcome President Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon Hee on October 7. The state visit is until October 8, according to the PCO.
In a message to the Philippine media, Ambassador Lee Sang-hwa emphasized the importance of the visit and called it a “pivotal moment” in the 75-year diplomatic relationship between Korea and the Philippines.
“President Yoon’s State Visit epitomizes not only a celebration of past achievements but a forging of even greater partnership and opportunities,” Ambassador Lee said.
Political ties, security, economy, development cooperation, culture and people-to-people to exchanges are expected to be tackled during Yoon’s visit, Lee stated.
