Fans of Disney’s Tangled are celebrating as their long-time “manifestation” appears to have come true. Disney has officially cast Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel in the upcoming live-action adaptation.
In the announcement, Disney wrote, “You want her to be the bad guy? FINE. Kathryn Hahn is Mother Gothel in Disney's live-action Tangled.”
The casting news follows Disney’s earlier reveal of the film’s leads, with Taegan Croft set to portray Rapunzel and Milo Manheim taking on the role of Flynn Rider.
For many fans, Hahn’s casting feels like the result of months of online “manifestation.” Since the project was first rumored, fans have frequently created edits, posts, and discussions highlighting Hahn’s resemblance to Mother Gothel and her ability to embody the character’s dramatic and villainous charm.
Hahn even appeared to join in on the fun. She changed her Instagram username to motherhahn and updated her bio to read, “mother knows best 🪞.”
The actress is widely known for playing the powerful witch Agatha Harkness in WandaVision and later starring in her own Marvel series, Agatha All Along. With her experience portraying charismatic witches, Hahn seems like a fitting choice—after all, it takes a witch to play one.
