Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo bagged the Best Actress award at the recently concluded Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards 2024!
Kathryn won the award for her performance in the 2023 film "A Very Good Girl" beating other nominees Maricel Soriano for "In His Mother's Eyes," Charlie Dizon for "Third World Romance," Marian Rivera for "Rewind," Sharon Cuneta for "Family of Two," and Eugene Domingo for "Becky & Badette."'
In her speech, Kathryn said it was her first time to receive the FAMAS award, noting she had no expectations of receiving any award when she accepted the film project.
"Unang-una, ang bigat pala ng ano no, ng trophy niyo. It's my first. Thank you so much po FAMAS. No'ng tinanggap ko ang pelikula na 'A Very Good Girl,' di naman ako nag-eexpect any awards or nominations. Tinanggap ko ang pelikula na to dahil naniniwala ako sa materyal, naniwala ako sa mga kasama ko," said Kathryn.
"Umaapaw lang po 'yung saya kasi nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon na makagawa ng ganitong klaseng pelikula na minahal at sinuportahan ng mga tao so maraming maraming salamat."
"This movie is a product of hardwork, love and passion, so maraming salamat ng lahat ng sumuporta, nagbigay ng oras at lahat ng nagmahal sa pelikulang ito."
The award-winning actress shared her win with Star Cinema and co-actress Dolly de Leon.
"Your very good girl, very happy girl tonight. Thank you so much FAMAS," she ended her speech.

Meanwhile, Kathryn's mom expressed her pride in her daughter.
"One day you said ‘Mama Papa, gusto ko mag artista’. Wala naman sa family natin ang artista. Pero bata ka palang alam mo na ang gusto mong gawin." Min said.
"And now here we are. Reflecting through your journey, I can say na sobrang proud kami sayo, anak!" she furthered.

Other awards include Alfred Vargas and Piolo Pascual in the Best Actor award for their performances in the films "Pieta" and "Mallari."
Other nominees for the award were Cedrick Juan for "Gomburza," Ken Chan for "Papa Mascot," Dingdong Dantes for "Rewind," and Alden Richards for "Family of Two."
