Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, apologized for the confusion caused by the alleged “manipulated” photo.
The Princess of Wales’ statement came after major news agencies including Reuters and The Associated Press pulled the photo released by Kensington Palace on Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” Middleton posted on the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
“I hope everyone celebrating had a very Mother’s Day,” she added.
Speculations regarding Middleton’s whereabouts have circulated on social media since an earlier update in January after her abdominal surgery.
The image shared by Kensington Palace was the first photo of Middleton since she was seen publicly in December and after a paparazzi photo released by TMZ this Month.
The BBC, however, showed a photo of Middleton on Monday in a car with Prince William as the couple left for the Commonwealth Day service which the Princess of Wales did not attend.
