President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles as the new Civil Service Commission (CSC) chairman.
Nograles will be the CSC chair until February 2, 2029. He took his oath for the new position on Monday night, according to a photo shared by Malacañang to reporters.
He replaces Alicia Dela Rosa-Bala, who left the post after she retired last February 2.
Prior to his appointment, Nograles was the acting presidential spokesperson after Harry Roque resigned to run for Senate.
He is also the Cabinet secretary and the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
According to Nograles, the three positions that he holds are "automatically deemed vacated" as he takes on the new role of CSC chief.
