Kalinga Province made remarkable history after breaking two records for 'Largest Gong Ensemble' and 'Largest Banga Dance' in a massive activity called "Call of a Thousand Gongs, Dance of a Thousand Pots."
The record-breaking event was held during the 28th Kalinga Foundation Anniversary and 4th Bodong Festival at Kalinga Sports Complex on Wednesday, Feb 15.
Guinness World Records official adjudicator Kazuyoshi Kirimura announced the historic feat at exactly 9PM, after the performance.
In the Facebook post of the Province of Kalinga, the event was participated by over 3,440 male and 4,681 female Kalinga performers.
"With the staggering 3,440 Kalinga male folks who played their gongs in an ensemble and 4,681 Kalinga women who danced with pots called "banga" on their heads, the province smashed the world record attempts and made it to the Guinness Book of Records," it read.
Among the criteria set by the Guinness World Records were execution and synchronicity.
They also extended gratitude to 'all the participants who endure the long hours and rain for this historic achievement'.
After its first attempt in 2018 for the largest gong group, this was the first record-breaking event in Kalinga's history.
