Chansung of the South Korean boy group 2PM is about to get married to his pregnant longtime girlfriend early next year, adding that he would also be leaving his agency JYP Entertainment after 15 years.
In an Instagram post, the singer-actor posted a handwritten letter wherein he shared to his fans the developments in his personal life and career.
"There is someone who I have been in a relationship with for a long time. This person has been the resting place for my unstable heart and a friend who I can share anything with for a long time, and she became my girlfriend," said Chansung, 31, in his letter as translated by Korean media outlet Soompi.
"While preparing and planning marriage with this person after my military discharge, the blessing of a new life came to us earlier than expected, and we are planning to get married as early as the beginning of next year," he continued.
Chansung also revealed that his partner "does not have the same job as me" and appealed to fans to respect their privacy.
In the same letter, he also bared his plans of leaving JYP Entertainment after 15 years, noting that his contract is set to expire in January.
"The company is my root and like an old friend, and we will always support each other’s growth," he wrote.
Chansung said he has yet to decide on his career path, "but I will share plans that won’t cause concern to fans."
Debuted in 2008, Chansung is the maknae or the youngest member of 2PM, which popularized hit songs "Again & Again," "Heartbeat," and "My House."
In June 2021, the group released the album "Must," their first record after a five-year hiatus due to the member's military service.
