Juliana Gomez brought her first gold to the University for the Philippines (UP) after winning the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85's épée fencing for women.

On Friday, she won by a 15-10 score against De La Salle University's bet Rowena Vergara.

Meanwhile, Richard Gomez, former Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist in fencing, is a proud dad as he shared a short clip of Juliana's winning moment on Instagram.

"I am so proud of you @gomezjuliana! You are now uaap champion!!! Hard work and understanding of the game has set in. I love you ‘day!" he wrote.
