Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
Clarkson became the first player in the history of the Jazz to to earn the award after averaging 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in the 2020-2021 season of the NBA.
Out of the 68 games that Clarkson played in the current season of the NBA, he only played as a starter once.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) congratulated Clarkson, who represented the Philippines during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
SBP president Al Panlilio said on Tuesday, May 25, that the accomplishment of Clarkson brings pride to the association and the entire Philippine basketball community.
"In his short and sweet stint with Gilas Pilipinas, Jordan Clarkson showed us not only his world class talent but also gave us a glimpse of the hard work and dedication necessary to get to that level," Panlilio said in a statement.
"Getting a front-row look at Jordan during the Asian Games made us all believers that he will accomplish great things in the NBA," he added.
