Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla confirms his appointment as the new Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary.
"Totoo po ang balita," Remulla said in a Facebook post on early Tuesday.
Remulla stated that he wholeheartedly accepts the challenge presented to him by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to assist not only the province of Cavite but also the entire Philippines.
He further added that his goal has always been to strengthen the capabilities of local government and law enforcement to ensure equal rights for all and work toward a better future.
This can only be done through consensus building, community empowerment, and enhancing civic responsibility," said Remulla.
According to Remulla, he is confident that he will leave Cavite in a much better state than when he first took office, noting that Cavite is currently the most business-friendly province in the country.
"We have the largest state university system for a province with almost 100,000 enrolled for school year 2024-25.
"We also have the highest home ownership rates with over 1,000,000 homes so far. Our streets are brighter. Local Governments are more responsive, and the Cavite PNP is the best equipped -- it even won the award as the best PNP command in the country," he added.
Remulla further noted that while there are still many challenges in Cavite, solutions are already in place to address them.
He then expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him as governor of Cavite, stating that it is a great honor to serve his constituents.
Remulla added that being a governor is the only job he has ever wanted, and this service has brought him immense joy and fulfillment, calling it "an honor of a lifetime."
"p.s. At dahil dyan, ang #WalangPasok season ay hindi lamang sa Cavite kundi sa buong Pilipinas na!" he said in closing.
It was reported yesterday that Remulla will succeed former SILG Benhur Abalos. Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Boying Remulla had previously announced the appointment of his brother.
Malacañang confirmed that Remulla will indeed be the next Secretary of the DILG, in line with the announcement from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
