John Lloyd Cruz is this year's QCinema International Film Festival Best Lead Performance awardee!
The veteran actor brought home the award on Wednesday, in recognition for his role in Bor Ocampo's “Moneyslapper.” According to QCinema, Cruz’s performance solidified his place as one of the most versatile actors of his generation.
“For his fearless portrayal, bringing depth and intensity to the film's dark humour and unconventional social critique–a performance that leaves a lasting impact that solidifies his place as one of the most versatile actors of his generation,” QCinema wrote about the actor's award.

“Moneyslapper” was among the nominees for the festival's main competition category, the Asian Next Wave. Cruz shared the same award with Indonesian actress Shenina Cinnamon who starred in the thriller drama film, “Tale of the Land.”
The 12th edition of the QCinema International Film Festival will run from November 8 to 17, at selected cinemas in Metro Manila.
“Moneyslapper” follows Daniel (Cruz), who abandons his hometown after winning the biggest cash prize in the history of the Philippine lottery. However, five years later, he returns in search of home and redemption through people from his past.
