John Cabang Tolentino fell short of securing an outright semifinal berth after finishing 32nd overall in the men's 110m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday (Manila time).

Tolentino placed 6th in Heat 1 with a time of 13.66 seconds, which was not enough to qualify for the semifinals. Overall, he ranked 32nd out of 40 athletes competing for a podium finish.

Only the top 3 from each heat, along with the 3 participants with the fastest times across all preliminary heats, will advance to the semifinals.

America's Grant Holloway claimed the top spot in the first round with a time of 13.01 seconds, securing his place in the semifinals.

The Philippine athletics representative will have another chance for continued medal contention in the repechage phase of the competition.

Tolentino will need to finish in the top two to advance his medal contention in the athletics event.

The Filipino hurdler will participate in the repechage round on Tuesday (Manila time), hoping to secure a spot in the semifinals.
