Netizens were surprised after learning that the popular former child star Jiro Manio sold one of his prestigious trophies for only P75,000.

The aforementioned trophy was from the Gawad Urian Award, where Manio won Best Actor, defeating Aga Muhlach (Kung Ako na Lang Sana), Kristoffer King (Babae sa Breakwater), and Cogie Domingo (Angel sa Lupa), for his performance in the 2004 film Magnifico.

The former child star sold his trophy to businessman Jayson Luzadas, popularly known as 'Boss Toyo.'

In an interview with Luazadas' vlog Pinoy Pawnster uploaded on his YouTube channel, Manio said that he went to Boss Toyo's Pawnshop on purpose with the hopes of being acknowledged as one of the former actors in the film industry.

“Kasi Boss [Toyo], plano ko talaga noong napanood kita, sabi ng utol ko, magtatayo ka raw ng museum. Naisip ko,'sana mapabilang ako doon sa mga dating artista na nakatanggap ng award,'” Jiro shred.

Boss Toyo immediately countered this and said that he is still an actor in the public's eyes, and they still look up to him even though he is no longer active in acting.

"Wag mo sabihing dati kang artista, artista ka pa rin sa paningin namin. Kung sa ibang tao, hindi ka niula iniisip na arista, sa mga nakaabot sa 'yo. Mataas pa rin ang respeto namin sa 'yo," the vlogger said.

“Mataas ang respeto pa rin namin at tingin namin sa ‘yo. Never made-degrade ‘yun kahit na ano pa man kasi ‘yung na-contribute mo sa pinilakang tabing... Hindi nila maaalis ‘yun,” he added.

Boss Toyo did ask how much Jiro is selling the prestigious award he received at the age of 12.

He priced it at P500,000, but Boss Toyo bought it. Jiro eventually sold the award for P75,000.

The Gawad Urian Awards are annual film awards in the Philippines presented since 1977 by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, a film critic organization composed of critics, writers, and scholars.

It is regarded as the highest award for a film given by critics in the Philippines and is seen as the counterpart of the United States' New York Film Critics Circle.

Up to this day, Manio remains the youngest Best Actor winner in Urian history.
