The jeepney driver who fainted on Thursday, March 25, while waiting in line for his ₱5,000 cash aid in Quezon City is now in stable condition, the QC local government unit (LGU) confirmed.
In a statement, the local government said the driver, who suffers from a seizure disorder, lost consciousness while waiting for the cash aid.
They added that emergency responders from the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QC DRRMO) immediately attended to him and transported him to Quezon City General Hospital for assessment and treatment.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided additional financial assistance, while the city government also supplied maintenance medicine to manage his condition.
It was added after a thorough evaluation that the driver and his family decided that hospitalization was no longer necessary and that admission to the hospital was no longer needed.
Authorities assured the public that cash aid payouts for drivers from various groups continue to be conducted in a safe, organized, and orderly manner.
The government is distributing cash aid to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators in response to rising fuel prices amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
