Former television host and broadcaster Jay Sonza has been released from the Quezon City (QC) jail facility after posting a bail bond for his various case charges on Tuesday, August 22.
According to the QC Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Sonza had posted ₱278,000 bail for his 11 counts of estafa charges.
He also paid a bail bond worth ₱10,000 for his libel cases.
It can be recalled that Sonza was arrested while he was on his way to board a flight going to Hongkong at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) earlier this month.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) eventually detained the former broadcaster after learning that there is an active warrant of arrest for him due to syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment.
But on August 17, the QC RTC Branch 100 provisionally dismissed Sonza's 11 counts of estafa and syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment case after he failed to appear before the court.
The QC RTC Branch 215 likewise dismissed the former broadcaster's illegal recruitment case after private complainants failed to coordinate with him as early as July 28.
