President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. declared the Feast of the Black Nazarene on January 9, Tuesday as a non-working holiday in Manila City.

The holiday declaration was contained in Proclamation No. 434 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on January 4.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.

Before this, Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna made a similar announcement during a media conference with Quaipo Church ahead of the Traslacion 2024.

She also announced the implementation of liquor, firecrackers, and gun bans in the city during the observance of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
