

The late veteran actress Jaclyn Jose is among the filmmakers and artists honored by The Academy through its “In Memoriam” segment for the 2025 Oscars.
“The Academy honors friends and colleagues we lost over the last year. Take a moment to remember the artists and filmmakers we lost in 2024-2025,” The Academy’s website reads.
Meanwhile, the late actress’ daughter, Andi Eigenmann, shared a screenshot of Jose’s photo included in the Oscar’s “In Memoriam” list.
She wrote, “May nanay is among other Hollywood artists and filmmakers who are remembered by The Academy this year.”
Andi recently got a palm leaf tattoo in honor of her late mother, days before the latter’s death anniversary. According to the former, the symbol bears multiple meanings; all relating to the facets of the late actress’ being.
Mary Jane Guck, professionally known as Jaclyn Jose, succumbed to a heart attack in March 2024. She was 59.
Jose’s career spanned decades, establishing a name for herself in the local and international movie scene.
In 2016, she bagged the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her portrayal of Rosa, in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’ Rosa.” She also received prestigious trophies from the Gawad Urian, Luna Awards, FAMAS, and MMFF.
Actor Morgan Freeman delivered the “In Memoriam,” segment and honored his dear friend Gene Hackman. The “In Memoriam” segment at the 97th Oscars is a tribute to all the filmmakers and artists globally, who passed over the last year.
The segment highlighted Maggie Smith, Jeff Baena, Shelley Duvall, David Lynch, and many others.
