Actress Andi Eigenmann on Monday, March 4 revealed that her mother, veteran actress Jaclyn Jose, died from heart attack at the age of 59.
She made the confirmation in a press conference earlier today where sh ewas joined by her brother, actor Gabby Eigenmann.
According to Andi, her mother passed away on the morning of March 2, Saturday after suffering from myocardial infarction commonly known as a heart attack.
"I announce the untimely passing of my nanay Mary Jane Guck, better known as Jaclyn Jose at the age of 60 on the morning of March 2nd, 2024 due to myocardial infarction or a heart attack," she said.
"We'd like to thank everyone who has since extended their prayers and condolences to us as our family is trying to come to terms with this unfortunate incident," she added.
Andi also asked the public for respect and privacy in this most difficult time of their lives. She also hoped that her statement would “put all speculations to rest.”
"Please provide us the respect and privacy to grieve and we hope this put all speculations to rest," she said.
Before closing her statement, the actress honored her mother with a heartfelt message.
"Her undeniable legacy will forever live on though her work, through her children and the many lives she touched as she herself, her life herself, was her greatest obra maestra. Thank you," she added.
Jaclyn's talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc., earlier released a statement shortly after the news broke out last night.
Known for her great acting skills, the veteran actress brought pride to the Philippines as the first-ever Filipino actor to receive the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for her role “Ma’ Rosa.”
Jose also established her name by winning five prestigious trophies from Gawad Urian, two Luna Awards awards, a FAMAS award, and an MMFF award.
Jose last appeared in the TV series “Batang Quiapo” as Jail Chief Supt./BGEN Dolores Espinas.
