In case you didn’t know, Jackie Chan’s latest social media post left fans on a rollercoaster of emotions.

On Wednesday, the Hong Kong actor and filmmaker made fans' hearts drop for a split second, as he accompanied his post with a headshot. Fortunately, the headshot was accompanied by a lengthy, heartfelt caption that indicated his humble beginnings as an unknown martial artist on set.

According to Jackie, he initially wanted to work for just a meal, but was eventually thrust into the limelight, with people around the globe recognizing him for his movies.

“I always keep telling myself one simple thing, that is to make sure each shot captured is a good take. I couldn’t achieve these valuable moments on film alone, these memories were made possible with the help of my brothers (the JC Stunt Team),” he wrote.

“We used our lives to capture those unforgettable scenes,” he added.

It turns out, the social media post was penned by the actor because he wanted to express his gratitude for being honored with the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera or the Career Leopard award at the 78th Locarno Film Festival, in recognition of his decades-long career as an actor, martial arts stuntman, and filmmaker. The event will be held on August 9, at Locarno’s Piazza Grande.

Apart from the award-giving body, he also thanked his fans all over the world.

One user wrote, “My heart sank for a split second, man. YOU DONT RANDOMLY POST A HEADSHOT 😂😭 but I'm glad the goat is still alive lol.”

Another one wrote, “Jackie is always ok,” adding a heart emoji in the end.

Jackie began his career in the 1960s as a child actor. However, it wasn’t the 1970s that he found major success. In the span of his career, he performed bold stunts, while seamlessly blending kung-fu and comedy. During the 1990s, he was already hailed as Asia’s highest grossing action star.

He made his break into Hollywood a few years later, with the film “Rush Hour.” He will also gain more international traction for the 2010 film, “The Karate Kid,” starring alongside Jaden Smith.
